The short version. Blika has no account, no analytics SDK, no advertising and no tracking of any kind. Your approximate coordinates are sent to one weather API to ask about cloud cover, and that is the only thing about you that ever leaves your iPhone. There is no server behind this app, so there is nowhere for your data to be stored even if we wanted it.
Who is responsible
Blika is published by an independent developer acting as the data controller in a personal capacity, based in Germany. Contact: support@blika.app.
Location — the part that leaves your device
Blika asks for location while you are using the app, at kilometre accuracy — the coarsest setting that still identifies which patch of sky you are under. It is used for three things: to look up the aurora probability at your grid square, to ask for the cloud cover above you, and to compute the sun's elevation and the moon's phase where you are standing.
Of those three, only one leaves the device. The cloud request goes to Open-Meteo and carries your approximate coordinates and nothing else — no identifier, no account, no device information, nothing that could tie one request to another.
The aurora data does not carry your location. NOAA's OVATION file is the entire global grid, and Blika downloads all of it and finds your cell on the device. NOAA is never told where you are. The same is true of the Kp index and the solar wind readings, which are global figures with no location in the request at all.
Sun elevation, moon illumination, tonight's window and the three-night outlook are computed on your iPhone from your coordinates and the clock. They involve no network request whatsoever.
Declining location is a supported way to use the app, not a broken one. Blika will say “Location off” and point you at Settings, and nothing else about it changes.
What stays on your device
- Which dashboard widgets you have enabled and the order you put them in.
- Whether you have seen the introduction.
- Nothing else. There is no history, no saved locations, no log of what you looked at, and no cache of readings between launches.
Both live in the app's own preferences on the iPhone. Deleting the app deletes them. There is nothing for us to delete on our side, because there is nowhere for it to be.
What Blika does not do
- No account, no sign-in, no email address collected — ever, for anything.
- No analytics or crash-reporting SDK. Blika ships with no third-party SDKs at all.
- No advertising, no advertising identifier, no tracking across apps or websites. Nothing in Blika requires App Tracking Transparency permission, because there is nothing to ask about.
- No profiling, no automated decision-making about you, no data sold or shared with anyone.
- No push notifications today, and therefore no push token.
- Blika is not intended for children under 13, and collects nothing that would identify anyone of any age.
The purchase
The one-time unlock is bought through the App Store. Apple handles the payment and tells the app whether you own the product; Blika never sees a card number, a name or an email address. The entitlement is not cached locally as a flag — it is read back from Apple at launch — so there is no purchase record stored on the device either.

That is the complete list. It is short because the app is: every https address in the shipped build points at one of these, and there is no fourth.
Legal basis and retention
Under the GDPR, the coordinates sent to Open-Meteo are processed on the basis of legitimate interest in delivering the function you asked for — the app cannot tell you about the cloud above you without knowing roughly where you are — and the request is made only when you open the app or refresh it. Blika retains nothing, because Blika receives nothing: there is no server, no database and no log under our control.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict and object to the processing of your personal data, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In practice there is very little for us to act on, because we hold nothing about you — the honest answer to an access request is a copy of this page. Revoking location permission in iOS Settings stops the one transfer described above immediately, and deleting the app removes everything stored on the device.
Changes
If Blika ever starts doing something this page does not describe — push alerts and saved locations are both on the roadmap — this page changes first, and the date at the top changes with it.
